Portrait of the Danish Court Surgeon Frederik Christian Winsløw, Christian August Lorentzen, circa 1795
Frederik christian winsløw (1752-1811) was trained as a surgeon by his uncle, and later educated in paris and london. He served at the danish naval hospital ("søkvæsthuset") and gave lectures at the copenhagen university. In 1801 he was appointed court surgeon, in 1803 member of the college of health. Member of the royal medical society. He was contaminated with dropsy and died in 1811. He left part of his fortune to the frederiks hospital and to the birth foundation. Object Type: painting.
