Family of the Businessman B. H. Strousberg, Ludwig Knaus, 1870

From 1860 onwards, henry bethel strousberg became the most successful railway magnate in germany. In 1867/68 he had a luxurious city palace built at wilhelmstrasse 70. When his empire collapsed in 1873 and the "gründerkrach" began, strousberg lost almost his entire fortune. In 1884, the british embassy purchased the building. Object Type: painting. Date: 1870.
