Sultan Ahmed III, Jean Baptiste Vanmour

Full-length portrait of sultan ahmed iii (1673-1736), in the open air accompanied by two servants. In the background we see trees with some buildings on the left. This may represent the harem part of the sultan's palace, the topkapı sarayı. Ahmed iii wears a fur-lined kaftan and a turban called a kâtibî. This type of turban was draped around a flat headdress and decorated with a fan-shaped ornament.
