Soldiers, some mounted, with a gun carriage firing a salute or blank RMG PU9950 1, William Lionel Wyllie, between 1918 and 1931

Soldiers, some mounted, with a gun carriage firing a salute or blank original art: drawing. The monument seen centre right identifies the location as southsea common, after the first world war, since it is the naval monument there which records those lost in it. The presence of a crowd (far right) shows it is a public event and the horse artillery appear to be firing a salute. It may be the royal birthday review shown in the wyllie watercolour sketch which is now pae1385, or a similar event (see also pad9958, pad9969 and pad9975, which may show the same one). [pvdm revised 6/13] unavailable. Date: between 1918 and 1931. Dimensions: 144 mm x 307 mm. Collection: Fine art.
