(Self-portrait), Phoebe Anna Traquair, 1911

Traquair was one of the most talented artists working within the movement known as the celtic revival. Influenced by the pre-raphaelites, she painted murals for several religious and charitable organisations in edinburgh, including the catholic apostolic church in broughton street. She was also a brilliant embroiderer and made exquisite enamel jewellery. Her self-portrait seems quite private and personal, but also hints at a nervous energy. Object Type: painting. Date: 1911. Dimensions: height: 29.9 cm (11.7 in); width: 34.1 cm (13.4 in). Medium: oil on panel. Collection: Scottish National Gallery. Phoebe Anna Traquair - Self-portrait, 1911
