lijnbaansgracht near the weteringpoort, seen in a southerly direction, with the rear of the improvement house on the right. The improvement house, an institution for men and women of lewd behavior and 'those who are not of sound mind', served until 1830 and was probably demolished shortly afterwards. It stood on the site of the current buildings weteringschans 131-141. This drawing attributed to hendrik tavenier (1734-1807) and a second, signed and dated 1784 drawing (kog, atlas j.
