Franz Jobst Entwurf Glasfenster Votivkirche 2, Franz Jobst, 1878

Design for a stained glass window in the bishop's chapel or sacred heart chapel in the votivkirche in vienna, signed franz jobst, watercolor and black ink on paper, approx. 86 x 21 cm. Window destroyed in world war ii. Donor of the window: archduke wilhelm of austria (1827-1894), grand master of the teutonic order. Depicted: coat of arms of the archduke, scene with the patron saint st. Wilhelm, st. Barbara, patron saint of the artillery, of which archduke wilhelm was the general inspector, in front of the enthroned mother of god, the patron saint of the teutonic order, behind them the two saints george and elisabeth. Scene above: elevation of the master of the order hermann von salza to the rank of imperial prince in 1226 by frederick ii. Tracery: angels with the coat of arms of the teutonic order, below two angels with the coats of arms of the archduke's grandparents. Date: 1878.
