Satire on society in snowy weather: a street scene with a well-dressed woman and her daughter wrapped n furs; the daughter gives a coin to an old woman selling warm food or drink; an old man, apparently the husband, holding his muff to his mouth, looks anxiously at the woman. To the left, a boy holds a pair of skates; behind him a building carries a sign of "messrs. Frost, snow & cos. Warehouse". To the left, two boys slide and slip on the icy ground, one who is a butcher's boy, has set down his tray of meat which a dog is eating; three people seen from the back are heading towards a theatre where is "acted this present 27th of decr.
