The composition contains several successive episodes of the wedding. Left: archpriest bazhanov performs the act of coronation, the younger brother of the tsarevich vladimir holds the crown over him, and the danish crown prince frederick holds the crown over his sister's head; next to him are grand duke alexei alexandrovich and prince nikolai maximilianovich, duke of leuchtenberg. In the central part of the sheet are alexander ii and empress maria alexandrovna. To the right, at the bottom of the sheet, are depicted ladies of the court, members of the synod, and a choir of boy singers. In honor of the bride and her danish relatives, the emperor, grand dukes, crown princes, and generals in uniform with a blue ribbon thrown over their right shoulders (a distinctive sign of the danish uniform).
