Two dutch ships in a strong breeze and a heavy sea this is a drawing by the younger in pencil, pen and brown ink. It is signed in brown ink ‘w. V. Vj. ’ the rake and length of the masts of the ship on the right have been corrected twice, the dotted lines being the correct positions of the topmasts of a ship lifting to sea and heeling to port; the bend in the masts in the strong wind would depend on the tautness of the rigging.
