label copy: "totsuka station no. 6 (series - 53 stations on tokaido road)totsuka is one of the oldest stations along the t?kaid?, and if travelers were journeying from edo westward, they could make it to totsuka in one day. Therefore, totsuka was known for its large number of inns and restaurants. In this print hiroshige depicts a rice shop where a weary traveler is being greeted as he dismounts from his horse. This important print is from an early edition; later versions show the traveler getting on the horse, instead of dismounting. "
