label copy: "this privately commissioned gift print (surimono) was made for new year of a year of the tiger, and the artist chose to elaborate on the tiger imagery with symbols associated with a famous samurai whose childhood name was toranosuke, or tiger boy. The ky?ka poem surrounding the tiger invokes bishamonten, one of the seven gods of good fortune, and it says that visits to bishamontens shrine on the first tiger day of every month will bring wealth and success. The poets name, nanei hahahiro, is written on the banner that the tiger carries on his back. "
label copy (spanish): "este grabado encargado como regalo (surimono) se realiz para el ao nuevo durante el ao del tigre. El artista profundiz en la imaginera del tigre con smbolos asociados con un samurai famoso cuyo nombre de pequeo haba sido toranosuke, o nio tigre. El poema ky?ka que rodea al tigre invoca a bishamonten, uno de los siete dioses de la buena fortuna, y dice que las visitas al santuario de bishamonten en el primer da del tigre de cada mes traern riqueza y xito.
