Portrait of thomas, lord vaux. Black and coloured chalks, pen and indian ink, metalpoint on pink-primed paper, 27. 9 × 29. 5cm, royal collection, windsor castle. The drawing has been cut to an irregular shape in a later period, mutilating the inscription. Thomas vaux, 2nd baron vaux of harrowden, was a poet, the author of posthumous verses in tottel's miscellany, 1557. He served as captain of the isle of jersey. Holbein drew a later portrait of him. He also drew vaux's wife, lady elizabeth. Date: c. 1535–40.
