The Penitent Mary Magdalen, three drawings by Hans Holbein the Younger, circa 1536

The Penitent Mary Magdalen, three drawings by Hans Holbein the Younger, circa 1536

Three drawings of the penitent mary magdalen. Pen and black ink with grey wash on paper, kunstmuseum basel. The drawings were probably once on the same sheet but have been cut out. They seem to be designs for a medallion. Lady meutas wears a medallion containing an image similar to the second drawing in holbein's drawing of her (foister, p. 81). Date: circa 1536.
