Satire: the interior of a well-appointed tavern, with a thin, fashionably dressed frenchman on the left, mocking a fat englishman who is smoking a pipe, his tankard labelled 'john / bull / the / george', while others look on; a serving woman stands at a bar in the background; the case of the clock on the wall has a chinoiserie design; date erased. 1783 hand-coloured mezzotint with etching.
