Two studies of the left hand of erasmus of rotterdam; study of the right hand writing. Silverpoint, black crayon and red chalk on grey-primed paper, 20. 6 × 15. 3 cm, louvre, paris. This sketch, along with one of the right hand, can be linked with holbein's portrait of erasmus with renaissance pilaster. The writing hand drawn in black crayon may have been added later (müller, pp. 288–89). Date: circa 1523. Collection: Louvre Museum.
