Soldiers practising shooting for coastal defence: design for a cartouche
a drawing of soldiers at shooting practice on a beach, firing on targets set out at sea, with buildings and groynes behind. Two officers observe the score, one with field-glasses. A swag above and traces of similar decoration at the sides suggest this is a graphic design for a cartouche of some sort related to coastal defence. Wyllie has made some notes of clock times bottom left and right but not for any obviously related purposes. See also pad9956. Date: before 1914 ?. Dimensions: 251 mm x 353 mm. Collection: Fine art.
