Sileno ebrio, Cesare Fracanzano

A satyr fills the wine glass of silenus, paunchy and grotesque, who looks smiling at another satyr with his back turned. The burlesque treatment of the classical myth comes from ribera, with whom fracanzano collaborated from around 1630. It comes from the collection of queen isabel de farnesio, where it appears in 1746, and its previous history is unknown. Object Type: painting. Date: between circa 1630 and circa 1635.
