The design in slightly raised work of black lacquer with half of the flowers in gold and half in silver lacquer on a ground of black lacquer with stylized waves formed by combing the lacquer. The top and bottom partially covered by a textured grey-black lacquer ("ishime"). Inscribed in gold on the bottom of the lower compartment. The interior of "roiro. " the cord channels are internal.
