The scene represents the miraculous appearance of the virgin mary to the sacristan friar of the church of the dominican convent built in 1510 in soriano (calabria, italy), to give him the painted image of saint dominic de guzmán, founder of the dominican order, on the night of september 15, 1530. The virgin, accompanied and attended by mary magdalene and saint catherine, gave him the canvas that converted the convent dominican of soriano in a pilgrimage center. Object Type: painting.
