Original 19th-century artist illustration of chudów (chudow, also chutow) castle in chudów, near gliwice (gleiwitz), upper silesia: built 1532 by and former residence of the roman-german silesian nobility house of saszowski (historically also spelled saschowsky, sassowski, szaszowski, schaschowsky and schaszowsky) of saszow, geraltowitz and palczowitz; including its branch/descendants alias geraltowsky (gierałtowski) and palczowski (palczewski). Members of the house were also for a long period of time burgraves of kraków (former capital of poland), as well as progenitor of the saszor / orla (eagle) clan arms of the kingdom of poland.
