Oil painting. The cemetery in buitenzorg with the graves of jeannette antoinette pietermaat, wife of mr. Pieter mijer, governor general from 1866-1872 and ernestine geertruida mijer, wife of jhr. H. Van raders. The tombstones read: resting place of lady jeannette antoinette pietermaat - wife of mr. Pieter mijer, born july 6, 1816, died in the lord april 8, 1870. Blessed are the dead who die in the lord from now on. Yes says the spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them. Rev. 14-vs. 13. Here rests ernestine geertruida mijer, deeply regretted wife of jhr. H. Van raders, born june 3, 1838, died in the lord on february 27, 1867.
