Rochester bridge and barge
this is one of several studies for '"heave away": barges upward bound, shooting rochester bridge', which wyllie exhibited at the royal academy in 1884. Mrs wyllie, herself a yachtswoman, was the model for the female figure. The drawing illustrates wyllie's thorough knowledge of craft such as thames barges, and his desire for accuracy.
