Portrait of richard oastler, engraved by james posselwhite after a painting by benjamin garside. At oastler’s side are two volumes entitled white slavery and marcus. Commissioned by feargus o’connor, this engraving was distributed with copies of the northern star, 12 december 1840. Date: 1840 or 1841. Dimensions: 16 7/8 in. x 13 in. (429 mm x 330 mm) plate size; 19 1/2 in. x 14 3/8 in. (495 mm x 365 mm) paper size. Medium: stipple and line engraving. Collection: National Portrait Gallery.
