Portrait of Peter III, Aleksey Antropov, 1762

In february 1762, a. P. Antropov made a small sketch for a formal portrait of peter iii, who had ascended the russian throne only two months earlier. Another portrait was added to the painting - that of peter i, which was supposed to testify to the continuity and legitimacy of peter fedorovich's power. In the course of further work, the sketch was significantly revised by the artist. Object Type: painting. Genre: portrait. Date: 1762. Place of creation: Russian Empire. Dimensions: height: 44 cm (17.3 in); width: 34.4 cm (13.5 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Depicted People: Peter III of Russia. Collection: Tretyakov Gallery.
