Peter Becker Blick auf Marburg 1874, Peter Becker

View of marburg. Watercolour with opaque colours. Signed and dated p. Becker 1874. Elisabeth church. In the background, the hill, which was not yet densely wooded but covered in a semi-open landscape, with the augustenruhe on top, can be seen as an offshoot of the marburg ridge. The ketzerbach canal, which had been arched over shortly after a flood in the middle of the century, flows into the old water of the lahn through one of the smaller half-timbered houses on the bank. A narrow wooden footbridge leads over the ketzerbach at the mouth. In the black water, in which the sky is reflected blue on a sunny day, there is a fishing boat. Date: 1874.
