Portrait by sir peter lely of mary capel (1630–1715), later duchess of beaufort, and her sister elizabeth (1633–1678), countess of carnarvon. Mary and elizabeth capel were the sisters of arthur capel (1632–1693), first earl of essex. This picture was installed in the library of cassiobury house when it was rebuilt and enlarged in 1677.
