Portrait of grigore chirileanu, oil on canvas, 50 × 48 cm, signed and dated upper left, in black, "octav băncilă, 1912". The work participated in the 4th personal exhibition octav băncilă, romanian athenaeum, february 1914 and is mentioned as such in the article "artistic movement", n. Pora, "calendarul minerva", 1915, page. 178. The portrait represents the father of gheorghe t. Kirileanu, scholar, folklorist, librarian of the royal palace and honorary member of the romanian academy. Grigore chirileanu was first a forest worker, and then a forester and skilled bear hunter.
