Before 1907 - it is a unique composition in its approach. She depicts an old peasant in the middle of the work. The character stands and is exhausted by work, hunger, humiliation and trouble. The face is sunburned, the hair is white, the beard small and gray, the mustache long and bushy. The shirt and pants are thin, only the skin and bones are visible. On the other hand, his head is held high, hands bent with splayed fingers suggestive of questioning and revolt. The whole posture of the peasant exudes despair and suffering.
