Mr. P. Ph. Van bosse, minister of finance from june 3 (temporary) 1848 and permanently from november 21, 1848 to april 19, 1853 in the cabinets schimmelpenninck (1848), de kempenaer/donker curtius (1848-1849) and thorbecke i (1849-1853), from march 18, 1860 to february 23, 1860 in cabinet rochussen (1858-1860) and from february 9, 1866 to may 30, 1866 in the fransen van de putter cabinet (1866) and from june 3, 1868 to january 3, 1871 in the van bosse-fock cabinet. He made several attempts to introduce an income tax and in 1869 abolished stamp duty on newspapers, which provided a major incentive for the publication of newspapers.
