A view of the naval battle of lagos fought on 18 august 1759 between the british fleet, commanded by admiral edward boscawen (1711-61) and the french, commanded by jean-françois de bertet de la clue-sabran (1696-1764), resulting in a british victory. Seven years war (1756-63). The british captured three french ships: centaur, modeste, and téméraire which were added to the british navy.
