Six slaves serve seven women who are eating around a table. A woman is breastfeeding her child on the sofa by the window. Mutual visits were an important pastime for the wealthy turkish women. The guests often also stayed overnight. It was said that a woman like her had good connections, did not have to be home for a day, but could always visit. Collection: paintings; vanmour series.
