Louisiana Indians Walking Along a Bayou, Alfred Boisseau, 1847

Louisiana Indians Walking Along a Bayou, Alfred Boisseau, 1847

A man, two women and a child are walking along a river in a marshy area. The man, who leads, carries a long rifle over his shoulder. A boy follows, holding a long stick — probably a bow or blowgun. A woman carries a basket on her back strapped to her head, while the second woman carries a sleeping baby on her back. Both women have their heads bowed as the male looks on. Object Type: painting. Date: 1847. Medium: painting. Collection: New Orleans Museum of Art. Louisiana Indians Walking Along a Bayou
