Entrance to the Second Court of Trinity Hall, John Le Keux, circa 1840

A view of trinity lane in cambridge, circa 1840. On the right is the second court entrance gateway to trinity hall, which was the original medieval gateway to the college. This building was subsequently demolished and rebuilt, in 1872-3. Beyond it can be seen the chapel of clare college, and beyond that the soaring west end of king's college chapel. On the left of the picture are partially demolished remnants of the king's college's old court, which would remain derelict for almost half a century, before being rebuilt as part of the university old schools building. Date: circa 1840. Medium: steel engraving. LeKeux - Cambridge, c1840 - Trinity Hall 01, Entrance to Second Court - memorialsofcambr01wriguoft 0262
