Jervoise Clarke-Jervoise (1734-1808), by Francis Wheatley

Jervoise clarke-jervoise (1734-1808), the first to use the name clarke-jervoise. He was born jervoise clarke, and added his maternal grandfather's surname jervoise in 1777. He was a longstanding mp for southampton and newport and the isle of wight. Painting was previously thought to be by zoffany. Bonham's, london, 30 april 2014, lot 210, sold for £8,750, including buyer's premium and vat on the premium.
