Edo murasaki gojūyon jō, Utagawa Kunisato

Toyokuni iii drew the portrait of the kabuki actor arashi hinasuke i in the lower portion of this print. His student kunisato filled in the background with an illustration from chapter 28, nowaki, in "nise murasaki inaka genji" ("fake murasaki's country genji"). In this scene, the hero mitsuuji pays a visit to one of his lovers behind her folding screens, where she has retreated during a frightening typhoon. Date: December 1852 (late Edo).
