Description the honorable lord mr. Dear geelvinck
portrait of lieve geelvinck (1676-1743), mayor of amsterdam (1720-1743) and one of the directors of the dutch east india company, in an oval medallion held by the personification of vigilance. She is holding a staff with the all-seeing eye and to the right behind her is a rooster. She rests with the portrait on a pedestal on which the family coat of arms with façades on either side. On the pedestal, the name and details are displayed in six lines, with an eight-line verse by pieter langendijk underneath. To the left of the portrait the coat of arms of the city of amsterdam, above right the flag of the voc. Technique: engraving and etching, hand-coloured. Document type: print
