The view over takashi beach and osaka bay shows one of the many temples and shrines along the coast of takashi. Since the heian period (794-1192), pilgrims have traveled past these shrines that overlook the island of awaji in the background of the print. Hiroshige was famous for his use of a shading technique known as bokashi, as seen at the top of the print and in the darkness of the ocean. "
