Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 473, 28 September 1918

473. Tombstone with a cross in the cemeteries in the village. Pelitlii, kyustenjansko, made in 1877. Of reddish limestone. An isosceles cross is carved in the middle of the face of the plate, the edges of which are expanded outwards. A frieze of zigzag ornaments is carved around it; on its sides, rosettes, and at the ends of the plate, parallel to the final outline of its face, friezes of similar ornaments. At the base of the plaque is a carved niche for a lamp with a sharp arch, and on its upper wall - a round water trough from which the birds and the "deceased" can drink. The monument bears a bulgarian inscription and date, technique very good; drawing correct; circles and ornaments drawn with compass and line. Dimensions: 61x44x8 cm. Sketched on 28. Ix. 1918 (vol. 9, arr. 27. ). Date: 28 September 1918.
