855. The cemetery of harmanli is outside the city, on the bay. The older graves are arranged in turkish style: stones are arranged around the circumference; at the east and west ends is driven vertically a rude uncut slab without an inscription, and often without a cross or any other christian sign. The graves are overgrown with weeds. Here and there there are new wooden crosses (no dolls) and marble monuments bearing the dates 1882, 1850, 1860, etc. A grave is represented in the drawing. Sketched from nature on 26. Vii. 1930 (vol. 13, obr. 115. ). Date: 26 July 1930.
