Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 462, 29 August 1917

462. Tombstone with a cross in the deserted old cemetery of the town. Medjidie. The plate is quartered, carved in 1873. Of gray soft sandstone. On the upper half, 1. 5 cm. The fourth field is carved, during the carving of which a four-winged equilateral cross is made; the edges of its upper three wings were probably also crossed a second time, but now it is hardly visible, because the stone is friable and hollowed out; its lower wing appears to have had a semicircular base. The corners of the quarter field are blunted with arcs curving inwards. Beneath the field, an inscription with a date can be read quite clearly; workmanship good; drawing of the entire monument and its inscription correct and beautiful. Plate dimensions: 9x53x17 cm. Sketched on 29. Vш. 1917. (t. 9, obr. 32. ). Date: 29 August 1917.
