Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 715, 28 March 1916

715. Group of crosses - tombstones, from the cemetery near the church "st. Nikola" in the town of petrich. One of the many groups in the cemetery above [illegible] grave. They are carved from marble: the newer (smaller) ones have greek inscriptions, and the larger one is newer and has a bulgarian inscription, the first ones were made after the russo-turkish war, and the second before it. Their decorations are engraved - angels, lines - parallel to the outer contour of the face, flowers, rosaries, images of metal ornaments and other symbolic figures are found in the entire petrichka district. The average size of the crosses is 70x35cm. The stones were quarried in the village of starchovo, petrichka district. This group was sketched on 28. Iii. 1916. Date: 28 March 1916.
