Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 422, 10 October 1917

422. A group of tombstones around the cemeteries of the village. Kongas, northern dobruja. The sketch shows a grave, two stone and two wooden monuments are stuck above it. One of the stone ones has on its upper side holes (holes) for water or wine, "so that the dead person can get up to drink" or "from the water collected from the rain, the birds can drink and change". The dolls are big and oaky. The stone monuments are square, with carved crosses on their faces; dolls with similar crosses carved on their faces are also very common. When in the same grave after certain intervals of time they bury a second, third, etc. Dead people, the dolls of the first ones, and also the stone monuments are not thrown away, but new ones are stuck in front of them - that is why on one grave we find 2, 3, 4 and more wooden and stone monuments. Sketched on october 10, 1917. (t. 7, obr. 101. ). Date: 10 October 1917.
