373. The cemeteries in babadag, northern dobruja. In the foreground of the drawing, one can see a grave with five dolls - male and female; stone tombstones are also visible further back. The babadash cemetery dates back to 1852. The stones for the monuments are quarried from the moors that surround the city: white, yellowish, and mottled with reddish soft limestone. Brittle - cracks and drips from the cold, water and sun. In general, the stone in north dobruja is either very soft or very hard. Relatively good stone for cutting is located in sarorman (1-2 hours west of the village of malak gargalak); in the bash cheshma quarry near the town babadag; in the moors around karamankooi village; in karanlak dere, behind the bay (1. 5 hours from the village of bashkoy), etc. At the village cherna, village there are rich granite quarries in greci and other[ug] places around macinsko, but this stone was very hard, so they don't make monuments out of it. In addition to the above-mentioned stones, there are also others from which tombstones are made: grindstone, coarse-grained and fine-grained sandstones, slate - bluish, ashy and reddish, and these stones are some less, some more friable and crumbly. Sketched on january 1, 1917. (vol. 7, obr. 100. ). Date: 1 October 1917.
