Osman, son of Emperor Ibrahim., 1707

A depiction of osman, allegedly a son of ottoman sultan ibrahim of the ottoman empire. He and his mother zaffira (named on p. 645 of the source, and illustrated in a separate engraving: see below), said to be one of the sultan's wives, were on a turkish ship that was part of a convoy sailing from constantinople to alexandria and carrying a number of pilgrims bound for mecca, which was attacked by the knights hospitaller of malta during the action of 28 september 1644.
