Winter: within oval frame, to right, an elderly man warms his hands by a fire in a bedchamber, a young boy uses a device to encourage the flames; beyond, a group of men sit around a table in an adjoining room; centre, a woman wraps wool around bunches of twigs to make torches; to left, the entrance to the house; personifications of winter, as an old man, fill the four corners of the rectangular frame engraving.
