Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 201, 10 March 1917

201. Cross - acroteria on a bishop's crown, preserved in the tarnovo metropolis. It is believed that this crown (according to the research of his eminence metropolitan joseph) belonged to patriarch euthymius. However [from] its workmanship - the venetian ornaments, tones and enameling technique - it appears that it is no older than the vladic crutch preserved there and bearing the date 7308. (1800). The cross is four-winged, its lower wing is longer, a propeller is attached to it, which is driven into the top of the crown; the ends of the wings have a leaf-like shape, reminiscent of the shape of acanthobe leaves, and at the same time the shape of the old bulgarian arch. The cross is studded with precious stones - green, white, black-violet, red, etc. Fine goldsmithing. Dimensions: height without propeller 5 cm and 3 mm; width 4 cm and 7 mm; thickness 4 mm. The back and face of the cross are the same. Sketched on february 10, 1917. (t. 3, obr. 63. ). Date: 10 March 1917.
