Hans Holbein the Younger - An unidentified woman RL 12256, Hans Holbein the Younger, circa 1532-43

Portrait of an unknown lady, probably english. The face is considerably worn by rubbing; the insensitive lines of the spencer (jacket) are by later hands (parker, p. 49). Holbein has noted "damast sh" (black damask) at the bottom of the sheet. Date: circa 1532-43.
