Hamamatsu: the murmuring pines (hamamatsu, zazanza no matsu), from the series the fifty-three stations of the tôkaidô road (tôkaidô gojûsan tsugi no uchi), also known as the gyôsho tôkaidô. Date: between 1841 and 1844, (Tenpô 12–Kôka 1), Edo period. Dimensions: Horizontal aiban; 22.3 x 33.3 cm (8 3/4 x 13 1/8 in.). Medium: ink and color on paper, woodblock print. Collection: Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
