Helen and Cassandra, Frederick Sandys, 1866

Frederick sandys was one of the most gifted illustrators of the pre-raphaelite circle. The medieval character of sandys’ wood engravings is based on his appreciation and study of the work of albrecht dürer (1471–1528). This image accompanied a poem based on the greek myth in which cassandra admonishes helen of troy for her role in bringing about the trojan war. (see references). Date: 1866.
